This Valentine's Day, many of us will slow down with our special someone and enjoy the most romantic day of the year. But for other Austinites, today will whiz by in an economic furor. For florists in Austin, the week leading up to Valentine's Day is their busiest of the year - far beyond their second-busiest time, Mother's Day. "It's our Christmas time," says Cliff Martinez, whose family owns and runs Ben White Florist on South Congress Avenue. Over the weekend, Martinez and his crew prepared roughly 15,000 roses, most of which will be sent out today to Austin sweeties. "You can't prepare for crazy," he says. Three days before the big day, a 48-foot truck sat outside Ben White Florist. Every morning at 7 a.m., 15 workers enter this truck - chilled to 38 degrees - to find shelves full of flowers ready to be delivered to their designated section of Austin.
America`s Ultimatum
ALLAH GRANT ME THE SERENITY TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CANNOT CHANGE, COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS I CAN AND WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE. AMIN Anwar Mahmood, Canada Peace for mankindThe disguised Qazi is terririzing the readers of this paper. I CAN BET ANY THING THAT THIS QAZI IS NOT PAKISTANI AND IS TAKING UP THIS NAME FOR INTRIGUE. HE IS CALLING JAI HINDI TO JAI HIND AND AS EXPECTED HE IS NOW INCITING INDIANS AGAINST US WHILE MOST OF US ARE BROTHERS OF THE SAME BLOOD. WE ONLY CRITICISE THOSE INDIANS WHO CREATE RIFT BETWEEN US TWO PEOPLE. HIS STYLE OF WRIYING IS TOTALLY FOREIGN AND HIS ENGLISH WRITING IS COMING FROM A VERY HIGH CALIBRE OF DISRUPTING THAT CAUSE INTRIGUE AND DIVISION AMONGST PEOPLE. I CAN HONESTLY TELL YOU THAT THIS STYLE OF WRITING AND CERTAIN MODES OF WRITING COMES FROM THOSE SPECIAL GENES.
Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay named winner of WinterLights Celebrations: A cut above the rest
When it comes to winter, we do it right. The great efforts of the residents of Happy Valley-Goose Bay are the reason the town won the award for the WinterLights Celebrations, says Ken Anthony, director of Tourism, Culture and Recreation for the town. HV-GB won in the 1 to 10,000-population category beating the three competing communities of City of Armstrong, British Columbia, District of Chetwynd, British Columbia, City of Dauphin, Manitoba. Mayor Leo Abbass said the award is recognition of all the hard work done by everyone over the past year. "Work on next years celebrations has already begun and next year will be bigger and better," Mayor Abbass said. WinterLights judges Lisa Redpath and Gerry Teahen, described the community as leaders in the Canadian winter experience. The town offers a unique blend of first class and world-class traditional and cultural indoor and outdoor events for every enthusiast.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Dave Chappelle Sonned? Bobby Brown & The White Girl?
I am not sure if BET is looking for new hosts on “106 & Park," but I heard a rumor that might have been confusing things. From what I heard, BET is looking to do another Hip-Hop show. I did hear that they had open casting calls for that as well. It is speculated that this show will replace the ailing “Rap City." CONGRATS TO MONICA AND ROCKO! From what I hear, Rocko and Monica have been blessed with the birth of their second son named Romello M.Hill. He was born Jan 8th. I heard the lil' tike is very cute. Shout out the ATL crew on getting another member to the family. I HATE ALLHIPPITYHOP! (SIKE) Aw come on, people! I can't even be tongue-and-cheek with you! I am still here.
Care about the environment? Eat less meat
Please consider making some changes, for the animals who live horrible lives as objects living under intolerable conditions on factory farms, for yourself and your own health, and for the planet. Posted 23/01/08 at 1:10 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment .
