| Saints battle for point at Plymouth
Burley made a second switch on 77 minutes with Wayne Thomas replacing Ostlund. Saints were hanging on somewhat and Fallon had another chance but another poor connection made it easy for Davis. Burley made his final switch with nine minutes remaining with Stern John on for Rasiak. With four minutes left Wright-Phillips made McCormick stretch with a shot from 20 yards that the Plymouth keeper just about got his hand to and kept out while John was offside for the rebound. Saints were coming on strong in the closing stages having seen off the worst of Plymouth's efforts but after so long playing on what was a heavy pitch both sides were struggling for the extra yard in and around the final third. The fourth official held up the board to show three minutes of stoppage time with both side knowing a goal would win it.

Federal cuts hurt Bucks rehab program
President Bush's 2009 budget proposal would cut funding to recovery programs across the country, including a local program that helps people remain drug and alcohol free. The Bucks County Council on Alcohol and Drug Dependence Inc. was counting on $350,000 to expand its programming into Bristol Township, said Executive Director Beverly Haberle. The council was awarded the grant in September and earlier this month Haberle signed a lease on a space at the former Delhaas High School on Route 413 where it planned to deliver services. It is very important to people who are struggling with recovery and their families to be able to get the help they need and sustain recovery, she said. The Recovery Community Services Program is one of 13 Health and Human Services programs totaling $2.8 billion that would be cut or reduced if the budget plan passes.
Remodeling offers practical, emotional benefits
Whether we love our homes or hate them, there is always something we dream of changing about them. As residential architects, we naturally question what triggers someone to turn those remodeling dreams into reality. There are three areas that motivate people to get the ball rolling. The first is the tangible need for a different physical arrangement. Things such as the anticipated birth of another child, a change in jobs with a plan to work from home or the need to bring a parent or relative into your home on a permanent basis are examples. The second driving force is more emotional or psychological. This impetus stems from a desire to upgrade our current situation to make our homes more functional, livable and/or attractive. While a new mudroom may not be critical to the family's survival, the increased control of clutter and the ability to find coats and backpacks easily on a school morning will contribute to your family's quality of life on a daily basis.

And yet, on Jan. 6, the Associated Press reported the White House said waterboarding is legal. Prove it, Mukasey. Largely overlooked in the press coverage of Mukasey's evasiveness - much more sophisticated than Alberto Gonzales' - were his answers concerning Steven G. Bradbury, the longtime acting head of the Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel, which is charged with monitoring the legality of the department's actions - or inactions. The president keeps unsuccessfully and insistently renominating .
